On this specific course – the colour journey – we learned to look at colours in a new way. Andrew brings the colour wheel to life. He showed us how to differentiate between warm and cool colours, how to achieve colour harmony and how to use complimentary colours, eg: he taught us how to add some of a colour’s opposite colour to darken the original colour – a concept I found revolutionary! I found our 3-day painting retreat in Skipton to be the most helpful learning experience about painting that I have had. Andrew passed on his knowledge from his own experience which was enlightening. He was generous with his advice and information. The venue was great and having three days to immerse myself in painting (and the glorious countryside) was such a treat. Our group gelled together and was comprised of all skill levels. I felt encouraged and supported by Andrew and by the other painters. The main thing I have taken from the course is how to use my sketchbook and how to harmonise my colours.
